JAC Volkswagen passenger car plant will be completed in June, 2020, and will be put into production with three pure electric models, which are A0-class SUVs, A-class SUVs and A-class MPVs.

The plant is located in Hefei Economic Development Zone in Anhui province with a total investment of 5.061 million yuan and a total area of 128.4 hectares. Main projects of the plant includes the joint welding workshop, painting workshop, assembly workshop and battery assembly workshop. After the completion in next June, it will boast an annual production of 100,000 pure electric passenger cars.

#CATL

According to the financial report, in 2018, revenue of CATL reached 29.61 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 48.1%. The net profit attributable to shareholders was 3.387 billion yuan, down 12.6% year-on-year. It is mainly due to the operating costs of electrical machinery and equipment manufacturing, power battery system and lithium battery materials have increased significantly compared to the same period last year.

CATL invested 1.991 billion yuan in R&D in 2018, accounting for 6.72% of the operating revenue, and the investment amount increased by 22% over the previous year. By the end of 2018, CATL had 4,217 R&D technicians, and the company and its subsidiaries had 1,618 items of domestic patents and 38 overseas patents. The total number of domestic and overseas patents being applied for is 2,110 items.

#Hyundai to shut Beijing plant

Hyundai Motor announced on Wednesday that it will close its No. 1 plant in China. According to the announcement, Hyundai Motor's resettlement plan for the factory's 2,000 employees is to let them retire or to be transferred to other plants.

The plant planned to be shut down is named No.1 plant which was the earliest one been built in China by Hyundai. The reason for shutting down is not a technical upgrading, but a sharp decline in sales in the Chinese market in the past two years, which has led to a serious overcapacity.

#Land Rover wins lawsuit against Land Wind

In March 2019, the Beijing Chaoyang District Court ruled in favour of Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) and ordered an injunction against Jiangling Holding's car model Land Wind X7 which closely resembled the design of JLR's Evoque.  The court ruled that the Land Wind X7 model should immediately be stopped production, sales and marketing, and compensate JLR for a total of 1.5 million yuan. This is the case that the court made the first-instance judgment after nearly three years. The case was also regarded as the first win case for foreign companies to sued Chinese brand car design infringement.

Recently, some media revealed that Jiangling Holdings has not accepted the court's first-instance judgment and has appealed the case to the Beijing Intellectual Property Court. It believes that there is a significant difference between the design of JLR's Evoque and the Land Wind X7. It also pointed out that due to the particularity of automobile products, there are differences in their brands, sales, prices, etc. Thus, customers will not be confused by the design. At present, the two editions of the Land Wind X7 involved in the lawsuit have been discontinued, but another one edition is still on sale.

#End of Mitsubishi Pajero in Japan

On Wednesday Mitsubishi Motors announced the discontinuation of the Pajero model in Japan, and will release 700 final limited edition Pajero for commemoration. Mitsubishi also said that considering Pajero's current good sales performance in overseas markets, Mitsubishi Pajero will continue to sell in China and other overseas markets.
