FAW-NEV Uses 540M to Upgrade Battery Assembly Lines

FAW Group NEV branch was established in 2010, mainly producing EV, HEV and PHEV models. A few days ago, IIA learned from Bureau of Ecology and Environment of Changchun that FAW NEV Branch plans to invest 540 million RMB to upgrade productive capacity of battery assembly lines in order to improve product efficiency. The designed annual output is 118,000 sets. It is expected that the factory will be put into production next March.

According to documents published by Bureau of Ecology and Environment of Changchun, in order to improve product efficiency, FAW Group NEV Branch plans to invest 564,608,800 RMB yuan to upgrade the capacity of the power battery assembly line on the basis of existing plants. By upgrading the production process and improving the automation level, the designed annual output is 118,000 sets, and it is expected to be put into operation in March 2020.

When operation start, five types of power batteries will be produced, with battery capacities of  52.5kWh, 55kWh, 67kWh, 82kWh and 95kWh, respectively, to meet the demand of EV power batteries produced by FAW Group's own brands. .

FAW Group current existing NEVs

At present, the NEVs of FAW Group include the Benteng brand’s X40 EV and B30 EV, the R7 EV under the Xenia brand, which was launched at the end of 2018, and the E-HS3, the first NEV model of the Hongqi brand, which is to be launched before 2020. This battery assembly line capacity upgrade project of FAW Group NEV branch is expected to accelerate the layout of the company in the new energy segment.
