From:Internet Info Agency 2020-01-07 10:03:04

It is reported that BMW is testing a modular powertrain that is compatible with most of BMW's existing models. It is expected that most of BMW's electric vehicles will also be electric versions of existing main models in the future.

This new electric powertrain will have a battery with a capacity of 120kwh and a dual motor that can provide 493kW of power. By comparison, the battery capacity of the Tesla MODEL S long-life battery currently on sale in China is 100kwh, and the comprehensive maximum power is 487kW. It is foreseeable that the i6 launched by BMW in the future is comparable to the Tesla Model S in terms of power system.

The new BMW i6 that BMW is building is expected to become the first product equipped with this new powertrain in the future. At present, the benchmark products of pure electric models Tesla Model S models and the upcoming Audi e-tron GT will become its future main rivals.

In addition, BMW has already registered the names of potential models in advance, from i1 to i9 and from iX1 to iX9. Therefore, more electric models may be launched in the future, such as the BMW i1 based on the BMW 1 Series, and the BMW i7 based on the 7 Series. Therefore, in the future, the BMW Group will continue to press ahead towards the electrification goal.

Including the Mini and Rolls-Royce brands, the BMW Group is actively implementing electrification plans. BMW is in full swing with its electrification strategy that calls for the introduction of 25 electric-powered models by the end of 2023, more than half of which will be pure electric models.
